Two types of competition are featured at this event: timed events and roughstock events. In timed events, which include team roping, steer roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing and steer wrestling, each cowboy competes against the clock and attempts to post the fastest time in his event.

In roughstock competition, such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding, a cowboy must stay mounted on a bucking bull or bronc for at least eight seconds while holding on with only one hand and not touching anything with the other. The winning score is determined by judges.

At the Caldwell Night Rodeo, cowboys are the stars of the show, and loyal fans eagerly look forward to learning who will win the all-around crown at this popular event each year.

The New York film festival is an annual event that celebrates the trends coming out of Hollywood. New and experienced film makers compete to see who brought out the best film to the festival that year. The competition may not be quite as fierce as the competition for Hollywood dollars, but the voting can be intense. Film makers do try to get people to vote for their particular film.

Founded in 1978 as the Utah/US Film Festival, it was intended to attract film production to the state. At the time, it was one of only two such events in the country that celebrated independent filmmaking. Through its association with Robert Redford, the event-s initial chairman, the festival was able to attract interest from Hollywood.

The name was changed to the Sundance Film Festival in 1991, and is managed by the Sundance Institute. Each year thousands of films of all types are placed into competition, many of which receive distribution deals. Distributors at the 2011 Festival chose approximately 45 films, a 220 jump over the previous year.

Sundance is also known for propelling the careers of independent films and filmmakers. Steven Soderbergh and Quentin Tarantino are among those who have benefitted from the Festival. Their innovative films “Reservoir Dogs’ and “sex, lies, and videotape’ respectively, helped establish their reputations in Hollywood.

Throughout the year, and especially in the autumn, craft beer festivals take place across the United States. For the most part, these craft festivals are concentrated in the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest, where craft breweries are varied and ubiquitous. Small breweries showcase their new lagers, stouts, and India pale ales, as well as their unique specialty beers and anniversary editions. Belgium styled beers and organic beers have gained traction over the years, and can now be found in restaurants and pubs. The Musical Maze is one of the delights of the young children and those young at heart as it opens a musical world to them to express their creativity with sounds. The festival was first held in 1984, a year after Muddy Water passed away. The festival has always been under the control of the office of the Mayor. Lois Weisberg, the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, is credited with the creation of the event.

The event occurs each year in early June. It is held at Petrilllo Music Shell at Grant Park located next to Lake Michigan. The Petrilllo Music Shell was built in 1931 under the direction of Mayor Anton Cermak. The shell is named after James C. Petrillo who served for forty years as the president of the Chicago Federation of Musicians. Petrillo also served 18 years as the President of the American Federation of Musicians.

The three day event draws thousands of visitors to Chicago each year. The top blues musicians in the nation perform at the event.

Take your own sleeping arrangements. Everything from car to tents, from motor homes to a sleeping bag are acceptable. It is up to you. Once you arrive at burning man you can set up your camp anywhere in the sun. There is lots and lots of sun. No facilities so be prepared to have your own. This event is unusual fun and you will be expected to participate. You will find free food booths, free kissing booth, face painting, hair braiding, massages, chants of luck, and wonderful free movement rides and entertainment. Take a ride up in the sky and shout as loud as you can. Let your inner lion roar. At the end of burning man you will be tired, sore, sunburned, hungry and energized in a way you have never felt.
