Chicago Blues Festival Maintains Its Popularity

Chicago is the blues capital of the world. The Chicago Blues Festival is the reason why. Add three days and four stages, then mix in five hundred thousand fans and free admission and you have recipe for the worlds largest free blues festival. The festival is held in grant park which is referred to as Chicago’s front yard. There are breathtaking lake views along with art institutes and museums situated in and around the park. There are also many walking trails within the park. Grant park was the perfect place to stage the Chicago Blues Festival because of its cultural importance.

The stages include Petrillo Music Shell, Front Porch Stage, Mississippi Juke Joint Stage,and Cross roads stage. The original festival was in 1984. The festival has become an important city institution and is part of Chicago’s heritage. The first festival came a year after the death of icon Muddy waters and celebrated his memory. There were many performers who have since passed that laid the groundwork for the festival in it’s first year.
